  • The Leinster Project, located 30km southeast of Leinster, covers an area of 42km2 and is prospective for nickel-copper being located adjacent to BHP’s Nickel West Weebo Ni deposit.
  • The project straddles the Weebo-Mt. Clifford greenstone belt, a north-northwest trending folded and thrust stacked sequence of basalts, ultramafics, felsic volcanics and pelitic sediments, intruded by several granitoid plutons.
  • The area is also transected by the north striking Ponds Well shear zone in the west, the north-northwest striking Perseverance Fault (part of the Keith-Kilkenny lineament) in the centre, and the north striking Mt. McClure shear zone in the east.
  • The tenement is located near historical and developing nickel projects within and immediately adjacent to the project, including the Weebo Bore and Horn deposits. Komatiitic rocks host the nickel sulphide in each deposit.
  • Albion conducted drilling in 2022 and assay results confirmed several broad intersections of nickeliferous ultramafic rocks, with a peak of 24m @ 0.31% Ni from 16m, including 8m @ 0.50% Ni from 20m (21LRC004)

In 2023 Albion conducted a soil sampling program along the western edge of the license in an area of greenstone 5km along strike from BHP’s Weebo Bore nickel deposit.

The results of these results reveal:

  • There are a total of five highly elevated “Kambalda Ratio” (Ni/Cr x Cu/Zn) anomalies that are at least 400m in diameter and occur with increasing strength in the northern section of the greenstone belt.
  • These five anomalies are also coincident with highly elevated PGM (Pt+Pd+Au) in-soil anomalies, providing further validation of the possible presence of Ni-Cu-PGM sulphides in fresh rock at depth.
